Scholarship Program for Children of Veterans
Honoring Those Who Served.
Investing in Their Children.
"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." — John 15:13
As our nation commemorates America's 250th Birthday, Garden State Classical Academy is honored to have been selected by the Denise Catalano & Jerry Spumberg Trust as the inaugural school for a new scholarship initiative benefiting the children of military veterans.
Created in recognition of the sacrifice and service of America's veterans, this program seeks to provide deserving families with access to a rich classical education rooted in academic excellence, virtue, and citizenship.
Why Garden State Classical Academy?
Garden State Classical Academy was selected because of its distinctive commitment to forming knowledgeable, virtuous young people through a classical liberal arts education that emphasizes:
- American history and civics
- The principles of our nation's founding
- Moral character and virtue
- Academic excellence
- Respect for family, community, and country
As a Hillsdale College K-12 Candidate Member School, GSCA seeks to prepare students not only for college, but for lives of wisdom, leadership, and faithful service.
Scholarship Opportunities
For the 2026–2027 school year, the Denise Catalano & Jerry Spumberg Trust will fund three full scholarships for boys entering Preschool through Fifth Grade.
Applicants must:
- Have a parent or legal guardian who is a military veteran
- Reside in Monmouth or Ocean County
- Meet Garden State Classical Academy's admissions requirements by going through our enrollment process
- Demonstrate financial need
The Academy currently serves students in Preschool through Fifth Grade and is intentionally expanding by one grade level each year as it grows toward becoming a full Preschool–12th Grade institution.
Looking Ahead
The Denise Catalano & Jerry Spumberg Trust views this as the beginning of a much larger vision.
It is the Trust's hope that additional individuals, families, businesses, and organizations will join in supporting future scholarships so that more children of veterans—including opportunities for girls—may benefit from this program in the years ahead.
